Ho Khang is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Korea Insurance Development Institute (KIDI).
Prior to assuming his current role, he served as President of Korea Insurance Research Institute (KIRI) and an Executive Vice Chairman of KIDI.
Khang started his professional career at Daishin Life Insurance Co., Ltd (now known as ‘Fubon Hyundai Life Insurance Co., Ltd’)
in 1992 and has held management positions within Daishin Life Insurance Co., Ltd and YoungPoong Life Insurance Co., Ltd
before joining to KIDI for the first time as Chief of Insurance Research Center
(now known as KIRI, which became a separate entity out of KIDI in 2010) in 2001.
Subsequently, he took up numerous executive level posts at Korea Life Insurance Co., Ltd
(now known as ‘Hanwha Life Insurance Co., Ltd’) including Head of Products & Customers Service Division
and Head of Management Planning Division. And later he served as an Executive Vice Chairman of KIDI in 2010.
In 2013, he was named President of KIRI.
Khang has more than three decades of experience in the insurance industry.
He made significant contribution in developing and improving the operational structure and business process during his tenure at KIDI.
In addition, as President of KIRI, he advised financial reforms of policy makers and played an instrumental role
in elevating the status of KIRI as one of the top three organizations for financial policy research in Korea.
Khang is a cum laude graduate of Seoul National University with a Bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with concentration on Financial Management.
He also achieved a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration with concentration on Insurance Economics from the University of Georgia.
His major research publications include:
“On the Demand for Corporate Property Insurance” (The Journal of Risk and Insurance, 2000, Vol. 67) and
“Determinants of Corporate Insurance Purchases: The Empirical Evidence” (Doctoral Dissertation (Presented at 1991 ARIA Meeting).
