Mr. Dai Gou Sung is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Korea Insurance Development Institute (KIDI).
He assumed the role of CEO on November 7, 2016. Prior to joining KIDI, he served as a foreign attorney at BAE, KIM &
LEE law firm and senior fellow researcher at Economic Regulatory Administration Consulting (ERAC) before taking an
early honorary retirement as high ranking public officer in 2014.
Mr. Sung has served for more than two decades at the Financial Service Commission (FSC) through various positions
including the secretary general of the Public Fund Oversight Committee, the head of the Insurance Division and the sec
retary official of the Insurance System Division.
He led the amendment of the Insurance Business Act in 2003, which was followed by the phased adoption of bancas
surance and the establishment of the third insurance sector. He also contributed to the standardizationof the medical
insurance for actual loss and the improvement of the auto insurance policy.
After the inauguration as CEO of KIDI, he actively encouraged the insurance industry to utilize InsurTech in all areas of
insurance business. Such a movement led him to be granted the first prize among selected CEOs with innovative perfor
mances in the 18th Korea Digital Management Innovation Award ceremony on July 26th, 2018.
Mr. Sung received a Bachelor of Arts(B.A.) in Economics and completed a Master’s program in Business Administration
from Hanyang University in 1991, and also earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Utah in 2001.
